Sir: One of William Hague's most urgent tasks must be to restore the link between the Conservative Party and reality. The Tories still seem to be in denial, and continue to behave as if the general election didn't happen.
Mr Hague has made a poor start on this task, with an acceptance speech in which he seemed to quote numerous passages from the manifesto that has just been so comprehensively rejected. Perhaps another election defeat is the only thing that will wake the Conservatives up.
