Sir: Geraldine Burke (letter, 4 December) was 'most indignant' to find works of Lavery and Osborne included in a calendar of 'British impressionists'. A strange reaction: has she forgotten that the Irish were British before they became 'foreigners' in 1921. Her 'delight' in the calendar need not be lessened.

Yours faithfully,
