Sir: Suppose that a group of terrorists took up residence in villages on the east coast of Ireland and that the Irish government was not minded to interrupt them as they launched sporadic missile attacks on the west coast of England. How long would it be before the British Army fought back? Those who so readily condemn Israeli actions should suggest alternatives.

Yours faithfully,

GERARD M. BLAIR
