In Your feature "Out and about in Soho" (21 September) you describe Brief Encounter as "the oldest gay bar in town". The Salisbury pub has a glorious gay history for sure, but hasn't been a haven for gays for years.
Kenneth Williams did not go Around the Horn, he went Round the Horne in the ground-breaking radio show. You say that the first case of cruising documented was in the 18th century. I wonder what Kit Marlowe, putting it about in his favourite Deptford taverns, would make of that.
You talk of London's bid to "become the world capital of gay culture". I thought we were just spending our pink pounds in one particular part of London, and having a bloody good time while we did it.
