LETTER : Kurdish vote

Sir: Saying, as Mark Campbell does (letter, 31 January), that the PKK represents the ethnic Kurds of Turkey is an even greater misrepresentation than claiming that the IRA and Sinn Fein represent the Irish people.

In Turkey's last election, six out of every seven people of Kurdish background gave their votes to parties hostile to the PKK. It and its fellow-travellers have never enjoyed mass support.
