THE recent debate on the legalisation of drugs in general and cannabis in particular has focused on the bad social effects of these substances. Might their be some good social effects which are being overlooked? Perhaps we could consider the benefit of the ability of many people being able to 'brew their own' pot plants. This might cut down on the amount sold by drug traffickers and racketeers and allow the poorer sections of the community a cheap alternative to the pub.
