Sir: Although I was not among the winners of your pounds 30,000 to change your life award, entering it has actually changed my life.

First, it clarified what I'd really like to do (I have three children and I'm on my own, so consequently my interests had taken a back seat). Second, the competition forced me to investigate the possibility of applying for my chosen course and obtaining a grant.

I start a Higher National Diploma in Calligraphy, Heraldry and Illumination at Reigate Art School in September. Thank you so much for spurring me on.
