Sir: May I make a plea against the possible theme park lighting of sculpture in London, as reported by your arts correspondent (30 November). By all means illuminate the sculptures in Westminster at night, but not with coloured lights. They were not designed to be seen in that way, and coloured lighting would surely prove that the British have no taste at all.

Yours faithfully,

SARAH R. BOYCE
