Letter: No medals for promptness

Sir: John Donohue must be a very fortunate man (Diary, 6 April) to receive his campaign medals at this time, so close to the anniversary of D-Day, if he had not made a request in 1992 or earlier.

I, too, have not received my Second World War medals, and decided to apply to the Army Medal Office, Droitwich, early in March. Their reply to my letter, dated 14 March, was that there was a 12-month delay.

A call to the Army Records Office confirmed that they were dealing with requests made in 1992.

Yours faithfully,

DAVID DAVIS
