Sir: I was fascinated to read in your report (30 June) of the US Supreme Court abortion decision that a 'three-man middle group of justices holds the balance of power'. Readers might be interested to learn that the name of one of those men is Sandra (Day O'Connor). To the dismay of many Republican conservatives, her opinions show she is certainly not one of the boys among the Reagan and Bush appointees.
