Letter: Nothing new in predicting sexual orientation

Sir: What the scientists have found is that certain brothers and some of their relatives share a genetic marker. Some, but not all, of these male relatives admit to being homosexual. But have they been asked what else they do? Perhaps they all play golf, or perhaps they are all particularly kind or generous individuals.

'Behaviour' is so wide embracing that it would be very dangerous to try to identify one type of behaviour with one genetic marker.

Yours sincerely,

JANE DICKS
