Sir: You quite rightly condemn the horrifying notion that homosexuality might be considered grounds for abortion ('Gay genes do not exclude choice', 16 July), but for very odd reasons.

Perhaps gays make society 'more civilised and less brutal' and maybe some will turn out to be geniuses. But isn't the point simply that homosexuals are human and have as much right to live as anyone else?
