Sir: In defending the Thorp nuclear reprocessing plant (letter, 4 October), Dr P. E. Hodgson makes the laughable claim that nuclear power stations emit less radioactivity than coal-fired ones. Like Chernobyl did, for example?
One might as well argue that Russian roulette is a less noisy pastime than knitting. It is indeed - most of the time.
