Sir: In his obituary of Cardinal Jacques Martin (1 October), Peter Hebblethwaite comments on there being no 'outspoken French cardinal' at the Vatican. He has overlooked the trenchant views of Cardinal Paul Poupard and, more importantly, the Under-Secretary of State, Mgr Jean Louis Taurin - almost certainly due to become a cardinal, and quite possibly a future pope.
