Sir: I for one feel insulted by the remark about troops panicking on the beach at Dunkirk, in Robert Winder's article about Enid Blyton ("Noddy's off to Treasure Island", 18 November).
I was on that beach for several days and was one of the last to be evacuated. I saw no sign of panic, having traversed the beach from Bray dunes to Dunkirk itself. We picnicked in the sand dunes, but we did not panic.
Yours faithfully,
Kenneth Riley
