Letter: Plain English campaign

Your article on the Department for Education's use of the services of the Plain English campaign lacks clarity ('Whitehall privatises the ability to write', 3 October). The department has used the Plain English Campaign for a number of years. We set great store by their independent advice. In fact, the department has earned 19 Crystal Marks for its publications since June 1992.
