Sir: You ask a nave question in today's leading article, 'The stench of corruption'. Why did the Prime Minister not challenge the two ministers about the Al-Fayed matter three weeks ago when he first became aware of the potential sleaze-factor? Look at your diary. Such a confirmation, with its attendant resignation and libel potential, would have preceded the Labour and Conservative Party conferences.
Yours sincerely, MICHAEL E. ROSE Olney, Buckinghamshire 21 October
