THANK GOODNESS somebody is making waves about these ever-increasing quangos. What double standards we are expected to follow, with charters governing the running of every public body and then decision-making behind the closed doors of quangos.

Tory ministers' jibes about Labour activists and trade unions are hollow when compared with the marriage between their party and quangos.
