Your article "Prescott home plan will ruin the environment" (30 January) misrepresented the work of the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) as being unnecessarily critical of John Prescott and the Sustainable Communities plan. It was misleading in placing IPPR's work alongside a critical report by the Environmental Audit Committee with which IPPR was not associated. The article implied that IPPR thinks "ministers have failed to account for the devastating potential impact of global warming". Our commission has made no such dramatic statements.
