I WAS saddened to read about Marjorie Proops's largely unhappy marriage ('Marje's mirror image', 3 January).

I was even more saddened to find Ms Proops revealing her intimate thoughts on her wedding night, referring to her husband in terms of genitalia. If a man were to write a similar passage I would expect Ms Proops to protest.
