Letter: Prophets and parody

Sir: Contrary to David Icke's beliefs, the views of Christians have been challenged and parodied for 2,000 years. We are used to it. But just think of the response if Spitting Image had parodied the prophet Mohamed or had ridiculed the Jews.

As Christians we believe in an open market in ideas, because we believe that, being true, our faith will appeal to hearts and minds, and will prevail - as it has all over the world. But, as citizens we believe that there should be some restraint, not so much for our sake, but for the sake of religious and racial minorities.

Yours faithfully,

FRED CATHERWOOD
