Letter: Prosposed changes
AM I naive? The proposal to change the telephone area codes from April 1995 ('No one answers telephone call for help', Business, 17 October) by the insertion of 1 after the initial zero cannot, by itself, add millions of new numbers to Britain's telephone network. This is evident from the fact that when telephoning the UK from abroad the initial zero is dropped showing that it is redundant.
