Sir: An impersonator without medical training (let alone post-

graduate qualifications) can be sacked for pretending to be a doctor (17 August) - but there are no prescribed training or qualifications for even the most senior of NHS managers, whose decisions can imperil the lives of patients or waste thousands of pounds of public money.

Yours sincerely,

E. B. KNIGHT-JONES

Nottinghamshire
