Sir: I could not help chuckling when reading your report on the old Jewish quarter in Tunis ('Refuge of PLO harbours ancient shrine of Judaism', 6 April).

You mention the stone carried 'from the temple of Solomon after its destruction by Nebuchadnezzar in 586 BC': Is that, I wonder, the same temple you only recently informed us never existed ('Scholar argues biblical figures are fiction', 23 March)?
