Sir: I can tell you how people knew about the end of the last slump, in the Thirties. The rumours of war in 1938 and 1939 provided many new jobs. By 1940 there was very little unemployment. The skilled were in factories and the unskilled were in the forces. I live in dread that the same solution may be chosen now.
