Sir: You report (International; 'In Brief', 26 June) the discovery of a tribe in Papua New Guinea who worship a rock. A missionary has gone to convert them to Christianity.

What conceit. I have a very different view of this event, and my subjects are acting accordingly. We have recently discovered new world- wide tribes and races whose discredited cultures and religions have resulted in genocide and the virtual destruction of the planet. We are sending missionaries to convert them to Rockism, which has no history of failure and is perhaps the last best hope for mankind. We pray to Rock that we are not too late.
