IN HIS article from his book Round the World in Recipes, Michael Bateman refers to the 'famous fabada asturiana, the Basque stew of pork and chorizo sausage' in which the Spanish use haricot beans. Haricot beans are far too small for fabada: the nearest equivalent available in Britain would be big white butter beans.
