Sir: Your correspondence over the national lottery has failed to take on the concerns expressed recently over the cost of reconstructing Windsor Castle following the disastrous fire. Is this not one heritage project worthy of inclusion, thus ensuring that only those who believe in it pay for it?

Alternatively, in these strapped times, how about a royal lottery, which might also fund the Civil List? Now there's an idea whose time may have come.

Yours sincerely,
