Letter: Samuel Smiles is innocent

YOUR editorial assumes that while the majority are doing nicely under John Major a minority are becoming increasingly disadvantaged. In fact, there is no such clear division and this is one of the roots of the country's social crisis. Someone in a well- paid, apparently secure job now could easily be on the dole by the end of the month.
