Save local chemists

Sir: Steven Round, marketing director of Superdrug Stores (letter, 12 January), quotes pounds 180m per annum as the cost to the public of resale price maintenance on medicines. That is pounds 3 per person per year.

Hands up those who would not spend a penny a day to keep the local chemist's shop open.
