Letter: Social significance of sauce

EVEN those unlikely to go to The Granita in Islington will be grateful for the information that if they do so they might meet Peter Lilley there, but as a whole Captain Moonlight's report raises more questions than it answers eg:

1) Where and how does one obtain The Islington Cookbook?

2) What is Alan Watkins' home-made baked beans recipe?

More urgently, if brown sauce is 'a sensitive social and political indicator' as Captain Moonlight states, is it all right to go on eating it?

Norman Willis

Ashford, Middlesex

Moonlight writes: Norman is welcome to come in and note down Mr Watkins recipe. It would be a brave Captain who advised a former general secretary of the TUC about brown sauce.
