Sir: Holders of public office, and important figures in the corporate sector, will be please to know that there is a logical way to avoid the media exposure of extramarital affairs and subsequent distress: remain single.

The establishment still strongly favours married life. A relaxation of this stance would give high-profile figures the freedom of transient relationships without them becoming resignation issues.
