WHAT IS this? Some kind of post-feminist, post-modernist celebrity called Sandra Bernhard (Sunday Review, 30 August) who thinks she can subvert pornography by 'stroking her neatly trimmed and gilded pudendum' in American Playboy? 'Better they're jerking off over me than some bimbo they think they can abuse,' she says.

Don't kid yourself, Ms Bernhard. They're thinking about abusing you, too. It's high time Independent journalists rumbled this kind of bullshit. Pornography is a complex and serious issue.
