Sir: In your report concerning the International War Crimes Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (25 April), you state that Dusan Tadic, who was transferred from Germany to The Hague, is "the only suspect in custody". In fact, he is the only person so far transferred for trial by The Hague court directly. The Statute of the Tribunal established "universal jurisdiction", meaning trials can go ahead in national courts as well as The Hague. Trials are under way in Denmark and Austria and may soon proceed in several other countries.
