Sir: I believe someone as knowledgeable as Richard Kurt about football literature - after all, he has regularly written about his favourite team Manchester United - should be aware that there are publications on at least two of the "neglected minnows" he mentions (letter, 6 January).
From Sandhall to the Shay (about Halifax Town) was published about a decade or so ago, while Manchester City has proved extremely popular in recent years. In fact, only a month or so ago an enormous volume entitled Manchester: The Greatest City by City fan Gary James was published.
If nothing else, James's history is proving more popular than any book on United in the north-west at the moment . . .
