Sir: Television is ephemeral and the public memory is short; but I am saddened that it did not occur to Maggie Brown ('Sense of injustice remains as TV-am signs off', 2 January) that any bitterness felt by the 368 TV-am staff will not be shared by the 230 TV-am staff who were summarily sacked en bloc in 1988.

For them, and for their dependants, the tearful bravery in the TV-am studio on their last day contrasted with a sense of real justice at last.
