Letter: The CO2 menace

I am amazed that anyone should try to defend ExxonMobil's record on climate change, let alone a representative of the company (Letters, 30 January). Exxon was a prime mover behind the Carbon Coalition, an industry-sponsored lobby group whose purpose was to challenge any legislation to mitigate climate change during Clinton's presidency. Exxon has donated more than pounds 8m to organisations that promote the view that global warming is not a man-made problem. Exxon is a disgrace to the Western world and a menace to future generations.
