Letter: The days when TV was honest

Sir: You say that the young watch less television these days (leading article, 25 August). Children's TV is now very much about leading lambs to an advertising slaughter. Irony/honesty was alive and well in the mid- Seventies, when one inspired show, Why Don't You? (BBC 1), exhorted its young audience in the very title sequence to "switch off your television set and go do something less boring instead".
