I CAN only assume that Geraldine Bedell has been unkind to John Gummer in reporting her interview about his 'gospel truth' (6 December).

I find it hard to believe that a high-profile Christian of such influence in the Anglican Church could have left his interviewer in any doubt about his fundamental beliefs in the Gospel.

The Gospel is good news to the poor: it is about setting free the captives and liberating poor people from oppression.
