From Mr Leo Haynes

Sir: The president of the Law Society, Martin Mears, is reported to have asked (Section Two, 21 February) "How can we best find out what the profession wants and then do it?" Should he not have asked: "How can we best find out what the general public wants and then do it?"

Yours faithfully,
