Sir: The influx of two million refugees from Rwanda has been described by the media as the largest in history. But it is on record that 14-16 million refugees crossed the border in opposite directions after the partition of the Punjab in 1947. About 200,000 did not complete the nightmare journey as they were slain on the way.

Yours faithfully,

SANKAR DAS SARKAR
