Letter: Tobacco advertising

Sir: Experience in countries which have already banned cigarette advertising has shown that the tobacco industry will always find ways round it - just as has occurred with Formula One.

The solution is to insist that tobacco products are sold in plain packets, carrying health warnings and a list of the poisonous components only - but neither brand nor manufacturers' names. Until this is done, Governments will forever be vainly trying to catch up with one of the world's most powerful and dangerous industries - who will always be one jump ahead.
