Sir: In her report on St Bartholomew's hospital today, Judy Jones mentions the appointment this week of Professor Michael Besser as the hospital's new chief executive. On page 23 of the paper, I note that the Barts NHS Trust is advertising for a 'Chief Executive'. If this is symptomatic of the state of the hospital, I think it hardly surprising that Judy Jones finds 'morale . . . has rarely been lower'.
