Sir:You state ("Labour HQ to write shortlists", 28 January) that the Labour NEC will draw up candidate shortlists for the "Tory strongholds of South Ribble ... and Hazel Grove". The Conservative majority over the Liberal Democrats in Hazel Grove was 929 at the last election and even in South Ribble they only have a majority of 5,973 over Labour.
