Sir: Michael Portillo, along with every other politician in this country, evokes 'the still, small voice of Britain's quiet majority' when he wants to make a point. Will Mr Portillo and politicians on all sides ever realise that the still, small voice of Britain's quiet majority is still because its owners are getting some sleep after another day of hard slog trying to pay off the debts incurred for us by government.
