Sir: Robert Hanks ('The glove poets', 22 August) gave an impressive list of glove poets, but did not mention a similar cenacle in 19th-century Bengal. The 'War of the Bards' was an important social/cultural event. The most notable among them was an indigenised English colonial named Anthony (1810-1878).
