Letter: Water snorts
AS A hay fever sufferer I applaud any innovation that relieves the symptoms, such as the dust spectacles that keep pollen away from the eyes, as described in 'Innovation' (Business, 1 May). Unfortunately, the nose can be as severely affected, with painful inflammation and prolonged bouts of sneezing. The dust specs would be much more effective if accompanied by a breathing mask.
But for those unwilling to pay for such sophistication, temporary but blissful relief may be obtained by rinsing the eyes and nose with water. This entails snorting some water up the nostrils which is unpleasant but definitely less than the evil of a severe hay fever bout.
