Sir: As I sit indoors at my breakfast table on yet another cool, misty morning in wild west Wales, and read on your front page ('The world is hot, the world is bothered', 5 August) that 'Britain is . . . suffering a blisteringly hot summer this year', and 'Britain is enduring its second hottest summer for three centuries', I must protest at the inaccuracy.
Those of us who are having a rather indifferent summer this year are fed up with tired, hot and sweaty south-easterners complaining about a scorching Britain. My Britain is not scorched.
Yours faithfully,
STEPHANIE HALSE
