Sir: There are two possible answers to Maggie Brown's contention that "No churchyard should hold him", referring to the burial of Frederick West (6 January).

The first derives from the English legal principle that a man is innocent until proven guilty.

The second concerns the essence of the Christian gospel which is forgiveness.
