Letter: Western action that the Serbs fear

Sir: Frank Allaun (Letters, 13 April) equates atrocities by the Croats and Muslims with those committed by the Serbs. Yet the principal aggressors have been the Serbs, with the Muslims the main victims, and what has happened to Sarajevo during the past two years has been the most sickening episode in Western Europe since the Second World War. This great cosmopolitan city has been taken back to the Dark Ages and its continual indiscriminate bombardment has cost 10,000 civilian lives.

It might be hoped we had learnt the lesson that 'peace at any price does not pay'. Mr Allaun clearly has not.

Yours sincerely,

S. G. GRANT
